Let's Talk Complementary Football

First off, big ups to me for remembering that it's "complementary" and not "complimentary." I've made that mistake twice on this here website, so despite the 0-2 count, I protected the plate and lined that one into the gap. Didn't try for third, though. Not really a speed guy.

This is the weekly NERDstats post. Sometimes it's a deep dive into the analytics surrounding the most recent game. Other times it uses advanced statistics to make better sense of the season. And there's always an I-N-I included (that's the IlliniBoard NERDstat Index).

The term NERDstats started as a joke around here – my "you all can trust your NERDstats if you want; I'll stick to what my eyes tell me" approach back in 2009 – but that has slowly evolved into my... devotion(?) to all things NERDstats. Putting on my NERDstat glasses once per week helps me see what really happened. And what might happen soon.

I've always started with the I-N-I, but this year I think I'll include it where it fits in the article. And this week, I want to build some parameters before we get into the (very early) numbers. Some of this might turn your stomach but that just means I'm making you ill before I get to the ini.
