First off, let's acknowledge that this is the final game in a series of home-and-home matchups that was scheduled more than a decade ago. When the Big Ten required that all teams schedule a power conference opponent in the non-conference in 2013, we immediately scheduled what we hoped to be the easiest non-conference opponents we could find. And since the Big East was in the process of folding as a football conference at the time, Big East teams still counted as "power conference opponents" (which is how we snuck UConn and South Florida in there).
