Expectations.
It’s the thing a lot of us Illinois fans are having to grapple with right now. What do we do with these expectations, and the disappointment that comes from unmet expectations?
It was something I was thinking about even before I read the comments of Robert’s piece from Saturday night. In the comments, CMI2PHX – I hope they don’t mind me highlighting their comment – said what I think a lot of fans are feeling after Saturday’s loss:

A few different anecdotes come to mind to describe where I’m at in regards to expectations and disappointment.
On Sunday, I was having a totally different conversation with a friend about the NBA. I’m not an NBA guy, being from downstate, but I monitor it, and my favorite player right now is the Pistons’ Jalen Duren. Duren feels like a throwback to another Pistons big man, Ben Wallace, with his voracious approach to rebounding and only marginal interest in actually scoring the basketball.
