Low Five: Michigan State

It’s been 57 days since I last had to type the letters L-O-W for this feature. Eight weeks of a rather miserable Midwestern winter warmed considerably by 12 straight wins. The basketball was good. Alas, the streak was halted last Saturday in East Lansing and as we are pseudo-professionals here, the show must go on with a “low five”.

This was a tough one to write - and not just because of the excruciating nature of the loss. That game was 45 minutes worth of a little bit of everything. The sheer volume of key plays made for a tough edit. I could have written separate articles each for the first half, second half, and overtime. I condensed as best I could, but since this was an overtime game after all, I needed a little OT as well.

A word of warning though - if you were hoping for a re-litigation of how the game was officiated you will be disappointed. Of course, there were calls (so many calls) which affected the outcome of the game, and I was as frustrated as anyone with the whistle, but I just didn’t have the energy for that. That game was there for the taking even with all the extra curriculars.

So let’s hold our collective noses and dive deep into this “Woulda Coulda Shoulda” edition of “Low Five”…
