Incommunicado
Holly Birch-Smith - IlliniBoard

We're in such a connected world. Is that how it's said? We're all digitally connected. When I was a kid my parents had a big bell in the back yard (a Liberty Bell-lookin' thing) and they'd ring it if they needed me to come home. Now, parents check the location of their 9-year old on their smart phone and then send them a text. And the 9 year-old is always at home. Playing video games.

(I don't really know. I'm just gonna keep saying old man things until I land on one that resonates.)

We're connected, is my point. Except at Illini football games. When the network is overwhelmed (at least, when the AT&T network is overwhelmed) because of all the butts we have in seats (all of those butts have phones), I get to experience life like it was in 1984. Life in 1984 must have been frustrating.

Don't worry. This isn't gonna be some "Robert complains about the long lines" or "Robert complains about the lack of data service" posts. I'm headed somewhere.
