How Good Is This Offense?

In September, I don't stray very far from the team rankings. There are strength of schedule ratings and offensive efficiency ratings but they need a little time to settle down. You might have really good numbers because your offense is very good... or you might have really good numbers because you played three terrible defenses in the non-conference and you haven't been tested yet.
It's now October, so today I want to examine the offensive data. I was flipping through the efficiency data on Monday for the FPI and I saw that we were 19th in their offensive efficiency metric. And that's with an Indiana game where we only had 161 total yards and went 1-10 on third down. To be 19th in offensive efficiency after five games with one of the five games looking like that, you have to have had four incredible offensive games to balance it out.
