Crowd Pop
First off, can we all acknowledge how great this photo is right here? I could stare at it for 10 minutes like I'm at some gallery somewhere. The foot crossing the goal line. The three Ducks chasing Laughery all perfectly aligned. The Illinois fans. The Oregon fans.
That touchdown, obviously, was the moment the game turned. Oregon was up 10-0 and had just kicked a field goal. We get the ball back with 2:29 left in the half, hoping to not be shut out in the first half. And then Aidan Laughery goes 75 yards in one play and we're back in the game.
But that isn't the crowd pop I'm talking about. That one was a slow build. That one was "he's still going... he's still going... IS HE GOING TO OUTRUN THE FASTEST DEFENSE IN THE COUNTRY?" as the crowd noise got louder and louder. I want to talk about the crowd pop after Collin Dixon's touchdown.
