Simpson had 25 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Crane, and 10 points and seven rebounds in a loss to Farragut. Although Simeon fell short of a third consecutive city title, the Wolverines still have the 3A playoffs to look forward to as they go for their third straight state title

Stan Simpson, the Wolverines’ 6-9 center, played through most of the fourth quarter and both overtimes with four fouls. It didn’t affect his game. He scored six of Simeon’s 12 points in the overtimes and finished with 23 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks.

”He really sucked it up,” Robert Smith said. ”That’s what we’ve been waiting for him to do all season. He’s always had that in him. Tonight he let it all out.”

Simeon remains at the top of the Michael O’Brien’s Super 25 after two conference wins during the week. In the Wolverines’ rout of Fenger, Simpson had 13 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. He then had 17 points and seven rebounds in a win over Julian. This week Simeon faces Carver and Morgan Park.
