Lafayette standout junior Tyler Griffey said his decision to choose the University of Illinois to play college basketball came down to the coaches and location.
“I chose Illinois for basically three reasons,” Griffey said. “Over the past two years, I have built a strong relationship with Coach (Jay) Price and Coach (Bruce) Weber, and I believe Coach Weber is one of the best coaches in the country. I wanted to stay close to home and it basically came down between Missouri and Illinois. Illinois has an incredible recruiting class with three guards committed in my class and two in the class below me. All those combined made Illinois stand out among the others.”
